Internet Cafe Administration and Monitoring System EssayInternet cafes are very abundant nowadays. Managing networked computers, payment, clipping in and time break through of the lymph gland PCs are very important especially to the cafe proprietor or employee. In a computer cafe, the recording of time is under the tariff of the cafe owner or employee who must work consistently, timely, efficiently and patiently to make his business work. Since system computerization is becoming a trend, the cafe owner needs a system to serve its customers better and efficiently. How will an Administration and Monitoring System for Ledion Internet and Networking Cafe help the business manage the client pc start and end times efficiently and accurately? Ledion Internet Networking Cafe have their existing computerized system but is not reliable becoming because there are times when the server automatically locks the client pc even when the time was not finished which the owner/employee was oblige d to write the time starts and ends of the client pcs in a hard copy of MS Excel sheet. Since the Ledion Internet Networking Cafe have its 3 branches. The main branch is located in 10th Avenue, Caloocan City near Caloocan City Hall the other 2 branches are situated near Our Lady of Fatima University and University of Santo Tomas. The owner was not well-informed of what is natural event in his other cafes unless he calls the employees in charge in other branches. It is very beneficial for the owner to solve the common problems they encounter on their nonchalant operation in the cafe.

The Major Theories of the Science of Life Essay Example for Free

The Major Theories of the Science of Life EssayThe study of living things is called biology. Although biology is one of the fields of study in science, it has a openhanded range of concepts and principles. To the many scientists who have contributed to biology, it owes the many theories in its scope. Below be the major theories that are crucial for the study of biology. Most famous of all the theories is the theory of natural selection proposed by Charles Darwin (Pruitt, 2005, p. 10). In the theory, different organisms living in nature wobble or evolve through the years. Such process of change in living things is called natural selection (Pruitt, 2005, p. 10). In connection, Mendels principle of inheritance is the process wherein characteristics of the parent organism are passed down to the offspring on and on through several generations. This is possible by certain factors known as genes (Pruitt, 2005, p. 10).Nevertheless, organisms are not solely composed of genes but rath er organisms are composed of cells which come from previously existing cells which are the building blocks of living organisms (Pruitt, 2005, p. 11). Due to the many differences in characteristics of organisms, biologic classification was employed. By the use of biological classification, the various organisms are systematized.Just like the inanimate world, life abides by the rules of energy. Such study is known as bioenergetics (Pruitt, 2005, p. 11). On the other hand, the ability of organisms to subscribe external conditions such as changes in pressure and temperature is known as homeostasis (Pruitt, 2005, p. 11). Lastly, the study of the interactions of organisms with others and the purlieu is known as ecology. Thus, the biological community with the non living environment is known as ecosystem (Pruitt, 2005, p. 11). These different theories are used in research studies. One very good example is that of inheritance. The principle that governs inheritance is used in genetic eng ineering where the genetic characteristic of an organism is altered to add or remove specific traits (Microsoft Encarta 2006). This method is widely used to produce more than desirable products for man.ReferencesGenetic Engineering. (2006). Microsoft Encarta 2007 CD. The microstructure of cast iron

The microstructure of hustle weighABSTRACTTHE MICROSTRUCTURE OF CAST IRONIn the experiment, the microstructures of five samples of different variety compress take forms were observed and investigated under the optical microscope and an iron-carbide phase was studied. The suitable drawings were made under different elaboration of deoxycytidine monophosphate and 200. Each constituent of the microstructure was identified and also other morphologic features of the sample provided were identified. The samples areBlackheart malleable take in iron, Ferritic spheroidal graphite iron, Pearlitic spheroidal graphite iron, White draw off iron and Phosphoric fair-haired(a) cast iron. The differences in the microstructure were imputable to the difference in rut treatment, process of cooling and additives present.COPPER SILVER EUTECTIC ALLOYThe eutectic metal formed between flatware and copper was observed. The microstructure of all the cardinal samples was move using the optical m icroscope with 200 magnifications. 90%Ag 10% Cu, 72%Ag 28% Cu, 50% Ag 50% Cu, 30% Ag 70% Cu are the samples provided. An equilibrium plat was constructed for the copper-silver alloy system, the features of interest as well as the constituent of the structure was identified for all the samples. admissionTHE MICROSTRUCTURE OF CAST IRONCast irons are a class of ferrous alloys with a cytosine content of between 2.0 4.5% they contain sufficient carbon so that the eutectic reaction chances during stage set. They are the most economical in terms of foundry cost which makes the useful even though they are quite unannealed they are fine for little stressed components like cylinder block. Their versatility makes them a naughty demand in the market. Cast iron contain contrasting issue forth of manganese, sulphur and phosphorus. They have varying strength and can resist wear and abrasion and corrosion and they can be easily machined. They are easily crystal clear and cast making the e arnest casting impression. The carbon in a cast iron exists in deuce forms, as a free form of graphite or in a combination as a cementite which is unstable iron carbide. Iron is hard and difficult to machine ascribable to how brittle the cementite is part graphite is soft making the iron softer and easy to machine. Graphite weakens metal due to its occurrence in fightings by good luck up its continuity. Because of the characteristics of these two carbon form, the relative amount, the shape and distribution in the cast iron build ups different cast irons variety of properties.Grey cast iron contains tiny interconnected flakes of graphite that allow low strength and ductility. Its the mostly used cast iron and named after its grey colour on fracture surfaces. White cast iron sires more cementite than graphite during solidification, it is a hard brittle alloy containing massive amount of fe3c. Alloyed gabardine cast iron is used due to their hardness and wear resistance for abras ive wear. The name was given due to white fractured surface.Malleable cast iron is formed by the wake treatment of white cast iron, it has better ductility and they produce rounded clumps of graphite. It is very machinable and is made by heat treating unalloyed 3% carbon. A spherodite are micro constituent of coarse spheroidal graphite particles in a matrix of pearlite or ferrite, permitting excellent machining characteristics in high carbon steel. The structure of cast iron is affected by a number of factors. The type of iron form is determined by the rate of solidification as slow cooling will produce grey iron and the rapid one will produce white iron structure. Whether graphite or cementite is formed and by what quantity is determined by the carbon content of the melt and presence of other element. For example nickel and te raise the formation of graphite in the iron structure. The structure is affected by the type of heat treatment, cementite will decompose to ferrite and gra phite will produce a completely different structure.COPPER-SILVER EUTECTIC ALLOYSThere are triple single phase surface areas on the phase diagram of binary alloys of silver and copper. The phase is a solid solution rich in copper which has silver as the solute and an FCC structure it also include pure copper and is considered to include pure copper. An eutectic region can be defined as a three phase invariant reaction in which one liquid phase solidifies to form two solid phases. Copper and silver form an eutectic at 72%Ag and 28%Cu at a temperature of 780oC.The temperature at which an alloy become all liquid decreases as silver is added to copper which is also the same as the addition of copper to silver.A microstructure may be defined as the morphologic feature of an alloy, its grain and phase structure that are subject to observation under microscope. Copper is a face centred cubic structured metal possessing good ductility, good thermal and electrical conductivity. It is oft en used as a constituent of various metal alloys. The melting point of pure copper is 1083oC while that of pure silver is 961oC.Silver possesses one of the highest electrical and thermal conductivity of any metal. It has FCC structure and is sometimes produced as a by-product of copper. When the full liquid solubility is possible with complete solid insolubility or very trammel solid solubility then an eutectic relationship exist. This exists in copper and silver but they are fully soluble in liquid state.EXPERIMENTALTHE MICROSTRUCTURE OF CAST IRONFive prepared micro specimens were provided and the microstructure of each studied and drawn using a microscope. The specimens provided wereBlackheart malleable cast iron at magnification 100Ferritic spheroidal graphite iron at magnification 100Pearlitic spheroidal graphite iron at magnification 200White cast iron at magnification 100Phosphoric grey cast iron at magnification 200Each constituent and other structural feature of importance i n the microstructure of white cast iron was labelled on the drawing. The procedure was performed to all specimens.COPPER-SILVER EUTECTIC ALLOYSFour polished and etched micro sections of copper silver alloys were provided.30% Ag 70% Cu72%Ag 28% Cu50% Ag 50% Cu90%Ag 10% CuThese alloys have already been melted in a gas fired furnace, deoxidised by polling with graphite rod and then cast in refractory moulds preheated to 500oC.I placed the samples under the microscope at a magnification of 200 my observation was drawn with the help of the microscope. The constituent and structural features are drawn and labelled, I repeated the steps for the entire specimen and the equilibrium diagram was drawn from the data.RESULTSThe results are compiled in the couple of pages attached to the next pages.DISCUSSIONTHE MICROSTRUCTURE OF CAST IRONThe way a metal is cooled produces the different structures of cast iron. devil of these structures are white and grey cast iron. As the metal is cooled, the amount of austenite in the matrix increases. At the eutectic temperature of 1130C the remaining liquid solidifies producing austenite in a eutectic matrix. A structure consisting of cementite, Fe3C and eutectoid iron starts to form as structure starts to decompose. The eutectoid contains area of pearlite and cementite and its also a mixture of cementite and ferrite. The pearlite is formed as a result of the decomposition of the austenite on cooling. This structure is that of white cast iron which is formed due to the rapid rate of cooling. The cooling rate of white and grey cast iron affects the structure fast cooling rate promotes white cast iron while slower cooling rate promotes grey cast iron. The carbide composition can have effect on the structure of the iron produced high amount of chromium promotes white cast iron while low amount promotes grey cast iron. Section size can also determine iron structure obtained. Cool section cool faster and produce white cast iron while thick sections will cool slower promoting formation of grey cats iron.A number of variables essential be controlled in order to produce grey cast iron instead of white cast iron. For a grey cast iron to form, the rate of cooling must be made as slow as possible. High silicon content will also promote the formation of grey cast iron as silicon has strong graphitisingtendencies. Phosphoric grey iron is stronger, has a lower melting point and better fluidity than normal grey cast iron. The Blackheart malleablising process is the packing of white iron castings into pots with a neutral packing, such as sand or crushed slag, and heating them to 900C for three days. After the three days they are cooled very slowly. The cementite in the white iron is being decomposed into ferrite and graphite is being precipitated in a swimmingly dispersed form. The structure is composed entirely of ferrite and graphite. The graphite present in the structure is order of battlen as rosettes of carbon in the ferri te. After the process, the small amount of pearlite left wing has no effect on the properties of the casting. The steel produced in this process has good wear resistance and strength and reasonable toughness.Additives are used to produce spheroidal graphite iron rather than flake graphite iron. Magnesium amounting to 1-2% of the weight of the iron is added in the form of a nickel magnesium alloy of 10-20% magnesium. The alloy is used to prevent an extremely violent reaction from occurring. The presence of silicon also assists the formation of the nodules therefore Ferro-silicon is added. The sulphur level needs to be unbroken low in order to avoid removing the Mg as sulphide. In the production of a ferritic graphite iron, spheroids of graphite in pearlite matrix are heat treated to form spheroids of graphite in ferrite matrix. This is time dependent process and doesnt go into completion therefore causing pearlite area to still be seen.COPPER-SILVER EUTECTIC ALLOYSOn drawing of the 30%Ag70%Cu, alpha particles can be seen and dark patches show uncomplicated dendrites away eutectic. The 50%Ag50%Cu alloy sample also shows primary alpha dendrites outside eutectics. In the 90%Ag10%Cu sample there is small amount of eutectic and light areas show beta particles while the dark areas show alpha particle. On the equilibrium diagram ADB is the liquidus and ACDEB is the solidus. The area ACF represents the alpha phase of the silver in copper while BEG represent the condition of limited solid solution of copper in silver which is the beta phase. Below FCDEG the two phases alpha and beta exist side by side. The 72%Ag28%Cu micro section has an all eutectic composition with dark areas also representing alpha particles and light areas showing beta particles the centre of the microstructure is the first to solidify then the outside area.Composition of solid and liquid phases will vary with the temperature along the solidus and liquidus lines. The final liquid between composition C and E will endlessly end at eutectic regardless of what the initial composition may be. As a result the solid will be composed of masses of A and B. At eutectic CW parts liquidus composition Y while WY parts composition C.During casting its virtually impossible to achieve equilibrium conditions. Coring is the non equilibrium cooling on microstructures. Coring explains how the varying primary dendrites allow lighter areas in the centre than in the outside. The properties of a cored structure are less than optimal, as a casting having a cored structure is reheated causing grain boundaries regions will meet first as long as they are richer in low melting components. The liquid require that separate the grain gives an outcome of sudden loss of mechanical integrity. The melting may begin at a temperature below the equilibrium solidus temperature of the alloys. uniform heat treatment can be used to remove coring at a temperature below the solidus point of the alloy composition. Durin g the process, atomic diffusion occur producing compositionally homogeneous grain.CONCLUSIONCast irons have many different structures each one caused by a different cooling rate, additives and different heat treatments.Formation of grey cast iron over white cast iron is promote by slow cooling rate and enormous silicon contentCoring can be eliminated by a homogenising heat treatment.Magnesium and silicon help to produce spheroidal graphite iron rather than flake graphite ironTo produce a ferritic spheroidal graphite iron from pearlitic spheroidal graphite iron the steel must be heated to plainly below the lower critical temperature.Phosphoric iron will enable to cast very fine details and in blackheart malleablising process, rosettes from graphite in ferrite matrix are produced from white cast iron. The composition of the copper silver eutectic alloys has a very large effect on the microstructure of the alloy, with different amounts of the phases being produced on cooling.

Why do you think this is? Jithin Well as we all know Australia day is well known for Captain Cooks arrival of the First Fleet but, in truth what many of us dont know is on that same day is what aboriginals call invasion day. This day symbolizes the denial of rights and freedoms of aboriginal people. erect as capital of Minnesota Keating said, we failed to make the most canonic human response and enter into their hearts and minds (Redfern speech). During this timeframe, indigenous Australians have experienced discrimination, inequality and lack of opportunity. Shane Howard in real Rock sang Wasnt long before they felt the sting White man, white law, white gun. To many Aboriginals this day is very little about celebrating and rather about remembering of a deep loss. A Loss of their land, family, and the right to practice their culture.Presenter So what was the natur e of the contact between the first settlers and Aboriginal Australians? Jithin Um, it seems to me the early European settlers were just as curious as aboriginals. For instance, Captain Cook wrote I cannot tell if these natives are the most miserable, or the happiest people on earth. The aborigines were a peaceful and nomadic group of natives. We know the English were told be at good terms between aboriginals. But gradually we realize the ironlike connection indigenous Australians had with the land was being disrespected as White settlement expanded. Without doubt, we understand white settlers felt vastly superior to the indigenous population trail to violence, prejudice and racism.Presenter canful you explain to the audience the impact this would have had on Aboriginal Australians at this time? Maybe this is why it has been referred to as invasion Day? Jithin So, we understand white settlement had a dark and devastating impact on aboriginal Australians. Many aboriginals were for ced off their ancestral land and became dis displaced. This led them to new diseases introduced by settlers, which they had had no immunity too. Just like Djinyini Gondarra said The land is my mother. Like a human mother, the land gives us protection, manipulation and provides our needs. Due to this, they were unable to access food and water, which made them more fragile and powerless. Also during this period violent conflict between settlers arose causing many flinty deaths. The impact of white settlers resulted in a drastic decline in the indigenous population. Presenter You mentioned the government policy of protectionism, what was this exactly? Jithin Yeah, the policy of protectionism ran for around 68 years and the main idea behind it was to control and separate aboriginal people from the white population and from each other. The policy of protectionism placed restrictions that denied their independence, freedom and basic human rights. Rights such as the where aboriginal peop le should live were denied and instead, the government directed how aboriginal people should live. The freedom to express their traditional customs were banned. The defender was the legal owner of all personal property rightfully owned by the aboriginal workers. Spending money even to buy basic items was restricted. The freedom to marry whoever had to be granted by white superiors and traditional names were refused. We can vindicatedly understand this policy was very RACIST towards aboriginals.Presenter Can you just outline for the audience the purpose of reservations and missions during this time period? Who were they administered by Jithin Reserves and missions were enforced by their so-called white protectors. This meant approval was needed to enter or leave fenced areas. By doing this they excluded aborigines from cities and towns, which achieved their purpose of separating aboriginals from the white population. White superiors were strict and conditions inside these reserves were extremely harsh. Just as R. Broome said, It was evident at one point the reserves superintendents were at once policeman, judge and jury.Presenter The toll on the Aboriginal population of Australia must have been horrendous. What were some of the consequences of this policy? Jithin It was clear that the policies of protection had led to the dispossession, despair and a rapid decline in the size of the Aboriginal population. An Increase in infant mortality, suicide and life foretaste had a great impact. Harsh living conditions directed them to drink and most children lost links with their family and land. Many aborigines missed out on being improve in the language, culture and traditions of their people. Also, numerous mental health problems arose during the lifetime of aboriginal children.Presenter You mentioned assimilation earlier in the program, what was this? Was it another policy put in place by the government? Jithin Once the government understood the protection policy w asnt going as planned, with expenses and maintenance in running reserves and missions. The way frontwards was to absorb aborigines into towns and cities and the wider white community. By doing this Aboriginals would lose their cultural background but instead have their status raised. As part of Assimilation, the certificate of exemption was introduced and it requisite a denial of all cultural identity. It was only accepted to aborigines who were considered as detribalised and which have worked for the white man. Presenter What would become of full blood Aboriginal and Torres Strait island-dweller people during this period? Jithin Well, full blood aboriginals were excluded from white society and placed in reserves and missions. Where they were ignored and left to die out alongside their culture. All opportunities were put back and they relied on each other to sustain.Presenter And what about those who were deemed half-caste?Jithin As part of assimilation half-castes were absorbed into the wider white community. In omen of a simpler lifestyle away(predicate) from the harsh conditions found in reserves. But instead they were seen by the assumption of black inferiority and white superiority. Presenter Just for the benefit of those listeners who have just tuned in, would you mind just defining the term the Stolen Generation?JithinThe stolen generation were identified as those who were of aboriginal origin and were taken away from their families to be put into church missions, foster families and institutions. Under the act of government.Presenter It sounds as though the impact of this policy was devastating to the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities. Can you explain this impact for our listeners out there?Jithin When aboriginal people arrived in towns and cities and the wider white community, they came up against racism and discrimination. Aborigines were rather excluded from hotels and bars, they could only use fluent pools at certain times an d sit in certain places at the cinemas. The most terrible part of the assimilated policy was that it led to children being taken away from their parents and families to be put into foster homes. These were known as the stolen generation. Presenter Do you have an example from the material you have come across from a victim of the Stolen Generation? What was their experience? Your Name Presenter By todays standards, wouldnt these policies have been a breach of the Declaration of Human Rights? Do you mind just explaining, say three rights that these policies would have contravened? Jithin Yes, they definitely would have breached the declaration of human rights. These policies have violated rights such as Um, all adults have the right to marriage and to raise a family. Everyone has the right to an adequate standard of living for themselves and their family. And we are all equal before the law and entitled to equal protection of the law.Presenter Wow, some powerful stuff. Ensnared by the Gods in Oedipus Rex Essay -- Oedipus the King Oedipus

Ensnared by the gods in Oedipus Rex A citizen of Periclean Athens may not have been familiar with the margin entrapment, but he or she would surely have recognized the case of Oedipus as such. The tragedy of Oedipus is that he was ensnared by the gods. As Teiresias points out, I say that with those you venerate best you live in foulest shame unconsciously (italics mine) God is continuously indicted for having caused Oedipus troubles. The chorus asks, What evil spirit leaped upon your living to your ill-luck? And Oedipus himself is come up aware of the source of his troubles It was Apollo, friends, Apollo, that brought this acetous bitterness, my sorrows to completion. Blinded and humiliated, Oedipus thanks Creon for bringing his daughters to him God bless you for it, Creon, and may God guard you better on your road than he did me The Athenian audience credibly did not obsess with the unfairness of it all. Since the audience would have been well aware of the story and its deta ils, the draw, and the entertainment would have been seeing the storys lessons portrayed in a way that emphasized human failings, particularly the illusions that we hold concerning our mastery of affairs. Oedipus himself is described as masterful, yet watching his story, which we know so well, we find it dribble with irony at the kings every proud utterance. In his argument with Teiresias, Oedipus accuses the seer of being blind in mind and ears as well as in your eyes. Teiresias responds that Oedipus is but a poor wretch to taunt me with the very insults which every one soon will heap upon yourself. Oedipus is indeed persuade of his own virtue, and why not? As the play opens, the priest lavishes praise upon the k... ...ce of men reverence at least the flame that gives all life, our Lord the Sun, and do not show unveiled to him pollution such that neither land nor holy rain nor light of day can welcome. Oedipus, at the last, seems to concur in this acceptance of Gods will. When t he Chorus suggests he would be better dead than blind and living, Oedipus replies, its unfit to say what is unfit to do. I romance of you in Gods name hide me somewhere outside your country, yes, or kill me, or throw me into the sea In other words, Gods will be done. Whatever our mortal designs, we are caught in a far greater design, or web, which can grab us and distill us down at any time. As the play concludes, Count no mortal happy till he has passed the final limit of his life secure from pain. Or, as a modern ballplayer put it, Dont look back. Something might be gaining on you.

Essay on Voltaire’s Candide: A Typical Enlightenment Work

Candide as a Typical Enlightenment Work Candide on the come to the fore is a witty story. However when inspected deeper it is a philippic writing against people of an uneducated status. Candide is an archetype of these idiocracies, for he lacks debate and has optimism that is truly irking, believing that this is the best of each possible worlds. Thus Voltaire uses a witty, bantering tale on the surface, but in depth a cruel bombast against the ignoramuses of his times. Candide has reason save in the form of a companion upon which he relies for advice. His companion is Dr. Pangloss. He consistently dribbles to Dr. Pangloss about what should be done. Eventually Pangloss is killed by being hanged. But this means that Candides reason is also dead Candide goes and finds a new companion, Lacking him Pangloss, lets consult the old woman (37). He soon loses her, gains another, looses him, and then gains another. Thus we see that Candide can only think if he has a companion. Voltaire is thus saying that all the nobles are really idiots and says they are only sma...
